ABSee OneSight

Fountains of Crystal Lake Assisted Living Adjustments Clinic
Dawn Maginity and Mary Kato from our Crystal Lake location visit The Fountains of Crystal Lake, Assisted Living, twice a month providing cleanings and adjustments to the residents.
This program has been reinstated after COVID restrictions have been relaxed for visitors. Dawn has had a relationship with the Activities Director at the facility for many years and is excited to restart the initiative. This is just one way Midwest Eyeguyz grows our hearts while helping residents in the communities we work and live in.
ABSee Volunteers Give Glasses to Students in Calumet City
In the spring of 2019, volunteers from various opticals including Midwest Eye Guyz gathered together to provide vision care for children in need. A fully-equipped RV named Iris was brought to the school where kids could get an eye exam and glasses if needed, on the spot. Iris was equipped with an optometry office, waiting area and a full-service optical lab where glasses can be made. Through the course of the day over 750 students were helped and received eye exams and those who needed them, eyeglasses.
School Children Receive Free Eyewear at Pearle Vision in Crystal Lake
During the fall of 2019, special needs children visited Pearle Vision in Crystal Lake to receive free eye exams and glasses. The children attend a school for children with special needs and many did not have access to vision care or glasses. Store owner and operator, Rory Zimny worked with their teacher Luis Apolinar to set up the clinic. Over 20 children were helped that day and enjoyed the event.
OneSight – Thailand
Tim Webb and Rory Zimny support OneSight efforts across the world. In 2015, Tim Webb and over 50 OneSight volunteers converged on Chiang Rai Provence Thailand from every corner of the globe to help local, needy people in Thailand. Volunteers had to apply to be considered for the program and included opticians, optometrists, lab technicians, and managers to help organize the charitable events. Graciously, Mae Fa Luang University donated its’ gymnasium and found many local Thai interpreters to help the volunteers communicate with the locals.
The mission lasted two weeks with most days having volunteers taking 10 to 12 hour shifts performing vision screenings, eye exams, and making glasses. Included, during the trip, were a few off days to explore the beautiful local scenery and culture of the province. During the event, volunteers saw nearly 2,500 patients per day of the mission, most of which needed prescription eyewear to be made for them.
The Thai people were very grateful and so welcoming to our volunteers. They provided shows with local Thai folk dancers and volunteers enjoyed traditional Thai fare. The mission was a great opportunity to experience and help another culture, make new friends and get to know the people of Thailand. The OneSight Mission to Thailand was a terrific experience Tim will not soon forget.

Tim has made also volunteered in Puerto Rico, Viña del Mar, Chile, and Mtubatuba, South Africa supporting OneSight efforts.

Rory Zimny has volunteered in Panama and Mexico supporting OneSight .

Dawn Maginity, our Regional Manager, has volunteered in El Salvador for OneSight.
